The patron of this church is the Stella Maris. The first generation of this church was established in 1914 when the parish purchased half of Aokata Elementary School. In 1932, the second generation of the church was built using the usable wood from the previous church. In 1984, the current church was built. It can be spotted from the highway, its striking white walls juxtaposed against the lush expanses of green hills it resides within. With its high vantage point, the world's first ever floating oil storage base can be seen, making the view from the church just as spectacular.
