Access to & from Nagasaki Airport

From Nagasaki Airport, the gateway to the skies, you can take a convenient bus not only to Nagasaki City, but also other major areas. Starting with a trip to the maritime airport in Omura bay, access to the Sasebo, Hirado, Hasami, Shimabara, and Unzen areas, as well as to several cities, will be introduced.

Change Buses and Head Out from the City. Route for after Arriving via Domestic Flight

The Information Center is visible as soon as you exit the arrival lobby at Nagasaki Airport via a domestic flight. If you go outside from the exit nearest you, you will find bus stops and ticket vending machines on your left. You can also check the bus stop's location and directions to it from infographics on the floors and walls inside the airport.

Utilize the Airport Information Center and Special Tickets

Ticket vending machines and signs inside the airport are available in English, Chinese, and Korean. At the Information Center in the airport, you can purchase one-day tickets for vehicles operating within Nagasaki Prefecture, such as local buses and highway buses, as well as SUNQ Passes for unlimited rides on ships. Additionally, nationwide IC cards can be used for buses departing from the airport (excluding buses operated by Shimabara Railway).

Route to the Bus Stop after Arriving via International Flight

If you are arriving via an international flight, then after exiting the arrival lobby, go outside from the exit diagonally to your right and you will find the bus stop and ticket vending machines. If you go to the right inside the airport without going out of this exit, then you will find a free space where you can charge electronic devices and, if you go further, an Information Center.

To Sasebo: The Central City in the North of Nagasaki Prefecture, and the Base for Your Trip

From Bus Stop No. 2 at Nagasaki Airport, the bus "For Huis Ten Bosch / Sasebo / Saza" takes about an hour and a half to reach Sasebo. If you get off at "Sasebo Bus Center," then you will arrive at the center of the city, where JR and Matsuura Railway operate Sasebo station. Embark on a journey to learn even more about Nagasaki from this hub in the north of the prefecture, which has developed as a military port city and where nature and the city merge in a unique balance.

To Hirado: Feel the One and Only "Exotic Japan"

You can go to Hirado via Sasebo. The bus from Sasebo Bus Center arrives at its end point of Hirado Pier, which has a Tourist Center, in approx. 1 hour 40 min. It takes approx. 1 hour 20 min. from Sasebo Station on the Matsuura Railway to Tabira Hiradoguchi Station on the westernmost tip of Kyushu. Visit historic sites and churches, and experience the remnants of the East and West, who met hundreds of years ago.

To Hasami: Past and Present Meet in the Pottery Village

Going to Hasami, the production center of Hasami ware, a ceramic with more than 400 years of history, takes approx. 40 min. on the bus "For Huis Ten Bosch / Sasebo / Saza" from Bus Stop No. 2 at Nagasaki Airport. Transfer to the bus "For Utsumi" at Kawatana Bus Center. Many kilns still remain in the Nakaoyama district, the birthplace of Hasami ware, and you can enjoy the cityscape and the decorations on the handrailings and the ground. Get off at the "Nishinohara" bus stop for the town of the same name, where shops that have been updated with modern sensibilities have gathered on the site of former pottery factories, a popular spot visited by young people from outside Nagasaki Prefecture.

To Shimabara: Enjoy the Castle Town Blessed with Spring Water

From Nagasaki Airport Bus Stop No. 3, head towards the southeastern part of the prefecture and the Shimabara city, the central city in the Shimabara Peninsula. It takes approx. 40 min. to reach Hon-Isahaya Station, the final stop. Take the Shimabara Railway from Hon-Isahaya Station and arrive at Shimabara Station in approx. 70 min. Electric bicycles can be rented at the station, so you can easily cruise around Shimabara Castle and the city, which has a unique and characteristic landscape utilizing spring water.

To Unzen: A Glimpse of "Hell" in a Hot Spring Village

From Nagasaki Airport Bus Stop No. 3, head towards Unzen Hot Spring Village, an international tourist destination. Get off at Isahaya Terminal and change to the bus "For Unzen" to arrive in approx. 80 min. Unzen Jigoku (Unzen Hell), with its hot springs and vents spouting right next to you, is a breathtaking masterpiece. You can also rent an electric bicycle and enjoy the thrill of cruising through nature.
