Shiodawara Cliffs (シオダワラノダンガイ)

Nature’s Masterpiece

  • 20478views

Located on Ikitsuki Island in Hirado City, the Shiodawara Cliffs offer a breathtaking landscape where dramatic rock formations meet the vast blue sea.
The cliffs are famous for their remarkable columnar joints, formed from ancient basalt lava flows. These naturally created rock columns, with their distinctive five- to seven-sided shapes, stand in orderly formations and resemble enormous stone pillars rising from the coast.
Stretching approximately 500 meters along the shoreline, the scale of this geological wonder is truly impressive.
