The church's patron is the Virgin Mary.
This wooden church was constructed in 1925 and was expanded with a bell tower in 1966—a feature rarely seen on wooden churches.
With its simple wooden construction and camellia motif featured in the interior, it leaves a strong impression. The nave features a raised ceiling, whereas the chancel features a rib vault ceiling. Due to the church reflecting vividly on the sea around it, it was nicknamed the "water mirror church".
