Baien Migawari Tenmangu Shrine （ウメゾノミガワリテンマングウ）

This shrine is located in Maruyama-machi, an area known as the pleasure district of Nagasaki during the Edo period; it is said that many courtesans and geisha came here to pray. The shrine grounds feature uniquegood-luckitems, such as a "Nade-ushi" (a statue of an ox meant to be stroked for good fortune) and a "Toothache-curing Komainu" (guardian lion-dog) with its mouth packed full of hard candy. The plum blossoms here are at their best in February.
